Good job on the video, but c’mon, why would you do a comparison of f/3.5 vs. f/1.8. Set your HG20 to f/3.5 (if possible) and enjoy a black screen! Or just get a better lens for your 500d

They are comparing JPEG if you have a Canon 500D you should avoid jpeg & shoot raw & if you have the kit lens sell it & get a better one

for a noise comparison
Big difference in Nikon’s favor at ISO 3200 & 6400.
and looking at ISO 12800 on the Canon it’s obviously only included to make the spec sheet look good it’s terrible.
I see the Canon powershot G11 has less resolution than last years G10 it’s going to be tough for Canon’s marketing people to explain that one

I have a 500d/T1i and a HVX, and the picture from the HVX is far superior.

Yes the DOF available in some lenses you can snap on the front is lovely and for that reason alone I shoot most stuff almost exclusively with my 500D, but you can argue, the resolution of the 720P in the HVX is so much better, sharper and more accurate.

It’s a shame. Even the D90 is sharper than the 500D, even though it has terrible compression.
